Frequently asked questions
Answers about disconnected backups, software air gaps, recovery in minutes, supported hypervisors, HDS hosting and personal-data transfers.
- What is Oxibox?
- Oxibox is a European cyber-resilience software vendor founded in 2018. It encrypts data at the source and disconnects each backup from production through a software air gap. Backup Guardian prevents committed restore points from being modified or deleted through the backup or administration interface. Systems can be restored in minutes.
- How is Oxibox different from a traditional backup?
- A backup repository that remains reachable from production can be targeted after a breach. Oxibox encrypts data at the source and disconnects the repository from production through a software air gap. Committed restore points cannot be overwritten or deleted through the backup or administration path.
- What is an immutable, air-gapped backup?
- An immutable backup cannot be changed during its configured retention period. An air-gapped backup is disconnected from production. Oxibox disconnects every backup, records committed restore points without exposing a command to overwrite or delete them, and only allows the minimum retention period to be extended.
- Is Oxibox a sovereign European backup solution?
- Yes. Oxibox is developed in France and founder-owned. Full Cloud uses two geo-redundant datacentres in Europe, and personal data is not transferred outside the European Union.
- Is Oxibox suitable for healthcare and HDS-regulated data?
- Yes. Optional HDS hosting is available in France through an HDS-certified partner, providing infrastructure compliant with HDS requirements. Oxibox is HDS-compliant in this deployment; Oxibox itself is not HDS-certified.
- How fast can Oxibox restore after a ransomware attack?
- Oxibox restores a system in minutes through cross-hypervisor R2V recovery. The exact duration depends on the workload and environment. Automated restore testing verifies that recovery points are usable before an incident.
- Which platforms and workloads does Oxibox protect?
- Oxibox protects Windows, Linux and macOS systems; VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV and KVM-based hypervisors; Synology and QNAP NAS; and SaaS data including Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace.
- Can Oxibox protect backups I already make with Veeam, Commvault or Acronis?
- Yes. Oxibox Backup Guardian disconnects copies produced by Veeam, Commvault and Acronis from production through a software air gap, then protects committed restore points against overwrite and deletion through the backup or administration path.
- Who uses Oxibox?
- Oxibox is used by SMEs and mid-market organizations (about 100–1,500 employees), healthcare providers, education and public-sector bodies, and is distributed through MSPs and IT service providers across Europe.
- Who is the CEO of Oxibox?
- Oxibox was founded in 2018 and is led by CEO François Esnol-Feugeas.
